The Middle Way Meditation Retreat at Halemalu

Facility

The Middle Way Meditation Retreat is held at the Halemalu Retreat Center - Vacation Villa.  Located on the Big Island of Hawaii on the beautiful Kona coast, Halemalu is situated in one of the worlds finest destination areas.  The Halemalu Retreat Center sits on a private five acre botanical garden estate in Captain Cook, Hawaii and is beautifully landscaped with tropical flora and over 30 diferent varieties of fruit trees.  It has many areas around the grounds that are suitable for group or private meditations.  The wonderful Kona weather found here at our 1,600 foot elevation insures that the climate is always comfortable and allows us to hold many of our functions under both sunny or starry skies!  As you breath in the fresh air of the mountains and hear the birds sing in the morning, you will feel you are one with nature, peaceful, refreshed and ready to find inner peace through meditation.

Accommodations

There are six spacious suites available for use for the Middle Way Meditation Retreats at Halemalu.  Each suite features a living dining area, a mini refrigerator, a private full bath, a master bedroom with a king size bed, and a bedroom study with a full size futon sofa bed.  Each suite's living area also has a queen size sofa bed, thus every suite can accommodate up to three individuals very comfortably.  Breakfast and lunch is served up in our fully equipped kitchen buffet area and our spacious dining lanai will accommodate everyone very comfortably.  Meditation sessions and classes are held in our large meeting pavilion or on the grounds here at the Halemalu Retreat Center.

Food

The Middle Way Meditation Retreat at Halemalu serves healthful and nutritious buffet style breakfasts and lunches. Many of the fresh fruits and vegetables served are grown right here at Halemalu. In the evening, balanced light refreshments such as milk, hot chocolate and juice will be provided to help compliment and enhance your meditation experience. Food is mostly non-vegetarian. If you are a vegetarian or have a special dietary requirement related to certain illnesses, please tell us at least 10 days in advance prior to your arrival. You can also let us know on the registration form.

Transportation

You will be required to make your own flight arrangements to arrive at the Kona International Airport (KOA) here in Hawaii.  There are direct flights available to the Kona International Airport (KOA) however it may be easier and more economical to book your flight through Honolulu International Airport (HNL) with a connecting flight to Kona.  We will provide transportation from the airport to the Halemalu Retreat Center upon your arrival and will return you to the airport when you are ready to depart.  Make sure we have arranged and confirmed your transportation needs with us before you arrive at the airport.  If you wish, you may also rent a car at the airport if you would like your own private transportation.  There is no public transportation available between the airport and the Halemalu Retreat Center and taxi service may be quite expensive.

Extended Stays

If you would like to come a few days early or stay a couple of days longer after the retreat (or both!) we would be happy to accommodate you here at the Halemalu Retreat Center. We offer daily accommodations when the Center is not being used for a retreat so you can easily stay with us if you want to extend your Hawaiian vacation with some extra time to see the wonderful attractions that the Big Island has to offer. Visit the Halemalu website at www.halemalu.com for more information and just let us know on the registration form that you would like to spend a little extra time with us.
